ICE - how common?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 57 Replies
This yr when i was in VT end of jan, we encountered quite alot. On one of the red runs off the glacier "col" this run was solid ice top to bottom. And im not talking white slippy icey snow. it was transparent and blue looking...

Ha i wondered why nobody was taking the chair up

Good job i was on new skis with good edges.

Unlike a colleague of mine who took back his hire boots to swap for a different colour! Middle age does strange things!

Sorry to go off piste but totally disagree... there are plenty of places selling kit at good affordable prices these days. I went to the ski show at the NEC last yr and couldnt believe how cheap some of the kit was. Also Ellis brigham last yr were selling kit at the back end of their sale for next to nothing. North face pants for £50. discounted by £70. OK granted you cant always get your size but if your willing to look around and spend a bit of time researching then good deals on good kit can be found.
Which resort has it all....

Tony im glad that my jacket will also be future proof, bright orange haglof jacket... )

Bright colours are the way fwd... IMO. I was sick of seeing all the dull colours, black and grey, too boring.

Tony_H wrote:Bit of thinking ahead here, but I'm drawing up a shortlist of places to go next season.
Top of the list is Val Gardena, of which I have read some great reviews on here from people who have been to Selva and Arabba.
However I am also looking at these as alternatives, and would welcome any views from people who have visited them recently:

Bad Gastein

Lauterbrunnen (Wengen/Murren would do)

Baqueira-Beret

Many thanks

Good thread tony, i too am looking for places to go next yr which is why i started the resort thread... Pls excuse my ignorance though which country are these places, they sound like austrian resorts however i could be wrong. Also whats the brochure you talk about?
