Hi, if you do a search on Saalbach (in the Austrian topic board) you'll find stuff in there. The skiing is good in Saalbach, I spent a season there and didn't get bored, no recommendations for accommodation though, have a look at the TOs websites and see what they've got.

Hello and welcome to our little world!
Val Disere has tons of skiing and great apres ski, however it is tres expensive. Saying that I've found a chalet (if that's your thing), half board for under £500, although it's with Crystal but they do generally seem to be cheaper than some of the other major TOs(in my experience). Also have a look at the Where to Ski and Snowboard website or buy the book for other suggestions on what you are looking for, they will detail the good and the bad of each resort, and they have a handy glossary at the back with all the TOs details on to avoid trawling the inter-web. Lots of people have lots of advice on here, they will often go off topic and talk about something completely different for a while but if you read for long enough you'll find what you're looking for. :D |

Great pics Tony, although I was slightly alarmed at seeing a picture of Mrs H and thinking 'Why is there a picture of me on here?' - there are similarities (probably from a distance in thick fog in real life)

Probably from Ashford by Eurostar, generally I think its cheaper if you book through a TO, although they do add a supplement for going by train which makes it more expensive than flying. You'd think they'd encourage people to use trains more than flying, clearly the environment isn't top of their list. |

I need a new mode of transport for my skis next winter and am potentially looking at a ski tube - any good/bad experiences/opinions?

I've just been contemplating Val D'isere by train - think it's a go-er!

Well we've been to Val before and loved it, plenty of skiing and lots of variety, so would we be bored in Obergurgl? I hear it's a high snow sure resort, but that's about as much as I know.
We are both intermediate heading towards higher intermediate skiers, I'm more advanced on my board but will probably ski most of the week. |
