Are you really going to Cannes? My daughter is currently in Nice, for a French language school holiday. She says the beach at Nice is horrible and pebbly, but she went to Cannes for the day and she says the beaches at Cannes are nice and sandy and Cannes is a much better place - more fancy shops and restaurants etc.

Ally

Last time I was in Cannes (some 10+ years ago), the majority of the beaches were all privately owned by the fancy hotels on La Croisette apart from a minute stretch of sand at the end for the 'plebs' to sit on which could hold about 5 people. Antibes has a fab beach, no such snobbery there.

You can always rely on the great british weather to ruin pretty much everything.

Thanks Caron, I'm excited about skiing already and not even booked yet. We're swaying towards Val at the moment purely because I'm limited on time off from work (booo!) and the snowtrain means 8 days skiing and 5 days off work.

Will still look into Obergugrl though, not heard a bad thing about it!

Remember Nelly it's quality not quantity.......and keep it on thread please :D :D

Sorry Mr W - slapped wrists for me

Good call on Mayrhofen Tony, I'd forgotten how 'lively' the nightlife was, probably because I was inebriated for most of the time I was there

I think when it comes to nightlife its down to personal choice, Val is massively expensive but has a good nightlife (even if it is more of a creche, but isn't most of the nightlife these days?), as I said before, I'd rather sit in a nice cosy chalet and have a few wines.

I would choose your resort and then do some digging around for bars, hotels and the like.
