We did a day in Flaine and the GM last year. It's only half hour away.

There are plenty of jobs about if you look at the right time. Once your there you get to know people and then better opportunities arise. My brother did it first. Then one day when talking to him about the mountains I said pretty much what you have just said. I took his reply as a challenge! He said 'In this life there are people who talk about it and people who do it'. He then smiled smugly at me. I'm a doer now! What are you? |

My other half was sceptical when I told him I had resigned and wanted to live in the Alps. He agreed to do a couple of seasons and now he wants to stay for good...Like me.
I was a teacher in the UK and I am a childcare manager in Morzine now. There are lots and lots of different jobs to be had for the winter season and very few of them are highly paid. I earn a tiny fraction of what I was earning in the UK but being here is not about making money. I can, if necessary fall back on the teaching, during the summer if necessary as commuting to Geneva is possible and there are a few international schools there. I have found things a little stressful lately but that is mainly because I still have a house in the UK that needs to be tended to along with lodgers and pets. When the move is permanent I'll have the pets with me and only the chalet I'm living in to worry about! I can't wait. |
