Steve, you have clearly got the skiing bug! Personally I would be looking at buying a pair of boots & hiring some decent skis. Good pair of boots suited to your level of skiing wont break the bank & will seriously improve your skiing. Plenty of J2skiers will advise on the type of boots out there.

Looking for reports from any of the MW ski hotels (France or Austria), they look excellent & I could easily be tempted by some of the deals currently on offer. Are there any in particular you would recommend especially for children.
Many thanks Finn |

Scary stuff realising that your equipment has been left behind, happened to me many years ago in Bulgaria but that's another story. Well done to the both of you for getting on with the matter in hand & enjoying the rest of your holiday. Nice boots by the way.

OK piste is a great run, great feeling entering the finish at La Daille & seeing all the international flags flying. Take a bow & just pretend you finished a world cup race, that's what I do.

Bit more info, any more views on these skis. Standard of skiing a little less than described in the vid. Included the AC50 for comparison, anyone tried either of these.

The Ski Helmet Debate

Here's an observation from my last skiing trip. Easily 30% of the children wearing skiing helmets were wearing them incorrectly or had the wrong size helmet issued by the hire shop. When I say wearing them incorrectly I mean helmets were sitting so far back on the heads that they could of fell off, chin straps not adjusted to fit or even fastened in some cases. What is the point in getting a child a helmet that is the wrong size or incorrectly fitted, are parents hiring helmets out of moral obligation rather than child safety?
