Holiday costs effected by brexit?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 8 Replies
Interesting post Brexit Crystal had a really good deal which ran through August with third off 2017 lift passes and equipment. We jumped at it and booked La Plange for snowsure holiday. Four travelling this year with equipment and ski hire staying in the same apartment as we stayed in 2016 same cost as for three people last year.

Is it illegal to have alcohol in your system when skiing? There may well be a moral argument to support this but there isn't a legal one as far as I can tell, i dont think drink driving limits can be applied to skiing. You could be done for reckless endangerment by the police but you would have to be really pissed. UK Gov travel website has no guidance on alcohol limit when skiing.
This is your holiday, having a pint at lunch or before the last run of the day is not reckless behaviour having six pints & four jäger tees would be.

Couldn't agree more Tony, a Weiss bier & apple strudle watching the late afternoon go by are part of my skiing ritual. Don't think we are being irresponsible or reckless but I'm sure the insurance companies would'nt see it that way.

Insurance companies will use every trick in the book not to pay up. Drinking & skiing in the Austrian resorts is so accepted especially with the Northern Europeans. I would argue that if the ski stations are selling alcohol on the mountain to skiers then they are advocating it is okay to ski under the influence.
Kitzbühel long weekend from Munich

The Karwendel mountain from Mittenwald looks great, was there in Summer walking & the access from the Karwendel cable car at the top of the mountain to the ski region is through a 1k access tunnel in the mountain. Worth a look if travelling from Munich about 1.5hr on the train. Mittenwald is a beautiful old town with the best beer in Germany IMO.
The train line continues along the valley into Austria, Seefeld is about twenty minutes from Mittenwald.
Wish I lived in Munich!

Take a look at Volkl RTM series skis, the 77 model is a pretty good ski. Big fan of the original vertigo motion & AC series skis but the full rocker on the RTM makes these skis a bit special.

Great paintings Dave, I still have the cards you gave me last last season. Tennladen Barns is my favourite.

Hope you are not going down the postal route again Finn!

It was a small independant cash place where we live. They have been 0.2€ above the post office rate for most of the year. Hand your cash over at the counter & you get your currency there & then.
One bitten twice shy, very careful these days Dave where I get my currency. 8)

Only reason I posted is we have seen the ex rate as low as 1.12€, whether your paying for a family of four or going as a single traveller every cent counts these days. Trying to gauge opinion whether folk think its better to wait or not.
Flying out 19th Jan.
