I will make an attempt to stick strictly to the subject matter of the thread, in future, and see if I can manage it :D

On this thread, for example, I would like to say 'well done Tony'. I have calculated that over the three years you've been a member on here you've averaged 5.5 messages per day, which is pretty good going

You worked that out? That's almost as bad as me adding up his ipod music.

I'd like somewhere to chat about other stuff, although we do have the Facebook group but no-one seems to go on that.

I have no idea if I lost any weight whilst on holiday, but even if I did I would have put most of it back on by now having had to eat the contents of my defrosted freezer over the last few days :x

Chalet Marsala - Val d'Isere
Started by User in France, 14 Replies
So, we just got back from a week at the Chalet Marsala, had a great time, food was plentiful and adequate, rooms were warm and comfortable (although the owner goes round and turns all the radiators off during the day), skiing was, of course, brilliant, cakes in the afternoon at the chalet were fantastic!

The chalet is a very short walk to both the town and the slopes, funnily enough its next door to a hotel we stayed at 3 years ago. Its on the road behind the main drag through Val and about 5 minutes to the slopes. The closest ski hire is Sport 2000, if you go to the end of the drive way and turn left, then right, then right onto the main road, you will see it on the left, although you might want to shop around, there's so many shops to chose from - Andy O was there last week too and he had hired from Ski Republic who were doing a 2 for 1 deal, although not as close as Sport 2000, they have a number of shops in resort, and I know you can get the yellow bus from the bottom of the drive to one of them. Here's the website http://www.ski-republic.com/en/resort/ski-hire-and-rental-in-val-disere

The lifts are in the opposite direction, end of driveway, turn right, walk about 5 minutes and you're there. Good warm up for the legs too as there's a slight incline.

Hope you have a great time, we did!

Skiing Powder
Started by User in Ski Technique, 78 Replies
So, through no choice of my own I ended up skiing through powder, and it wasn't off piste. We had a massive dump of snow Friday night/Sat morning in VDI last week, it was also horrendously windy and the bashers had been out but all the snow had blown across the pistes, so I went for it, not quite as elegantly as planned, but I got a few turns in and didn't fall over.

Its a start

I noticed you were close to the 6k mark this afternoon and wondered if you would mark the occasion.

How right I was.
