Zell am See - HELP!
Started by User in Austria, 11 Replies
Previous posters have covered the bars I think. We usually hit the Gin House when the lifts close then move down the main street and finish in Crazy Daisy sometime after dinner.

Hope you have a great trip if your there this week - if it's next week give us a shout and maybe we can have a mini J2Ski Zell meet for a few apres beers - anyone else in town ?

Cheers

Zell am See - HELP!

I'm part of a mixed ability group of 16 going out on 15th Jan. (all frantically praying the forecast rain doesn't come - or that the temp. drops before it does and it comes as white stuff).

The more experienced of us love Black's 13 & 14 - though 14 generally gets left till later in the week when we've found our ski legs (ok, we're unfit).

The red run's on Sonnenalm are well worth getting over to and usually quieter - no blues in that sector so no beginners and we usually enjoy a lunch at Blaickner's Sonnalm a couple of times in the week.

Though I take my own kit these days, I've used several of teh Zell ski hire shops over the years and always had good experience. Our group usually uses Intersport these days, but that's for convenience as much as anything - and they give the guys an additional loyalty discount as repeat customers.

Was there 2 years ago on a day trip - fantastic scenery and relaxed skiing. Food and beer more expensive than other resorts around but we enjoyed our time and would go again - especially with the new links and expanded area.

Look forward to your feedback after the trip.

I love borovets its friendly and calm, great prices and great company with snow canons on 5 slopes now so even when its not great you can still snowboard.
Lift pass on Sat & Sunday is £15 per day for all 58k of slopes... If thats not making me happy nothing does.

I just worry when my Bulgarian (born and bred) friends always ski in Switzerland and Italy and avoid skiing in Bulgaria at all costs because of 'all the crooks and scamers that invade every aspect of Bulgarian life'.

Some friends got a really goot deal at the Romantik Hotel in Zell am See on the Crystal Ski+ package during January which includes the ski hire and lift pass in the price.

Hotel rooms are good with nice pool, decent location and great food (I've stayed there a couple of times)

Some nice begiiners areas and easyish blues to progress to. Ski schools good - have used three over the years but these days we usually use Outdo, smaller outfit but they give a lot of personal care and attention.

Zell itself is an all year round resort so lots more in town rather than just snowsports. Some good shops and excellent nightlife. Regular direct trains to Salzburg to.

It;s not the cheapest location to be in, but could possibly be affordable and tick all your boxes.
