Hi there!

My partner and I, and a few friends are looking to go away to learn to ski but we are well and truly stumped at where to go!

We would like to go somewhere that is beginner friendly, with good lessons and teachers; has plenty of facilities in the hotel; nice surrounding area with bars and places we can go and see besides skiing and most of all as cheap as possible!

Now obviously, that is a lot to ask. It's a lot to expect a high quality hotel for a cheap price, I know!

But does anyone have any suggestions, does this miracle resort exist??

We went to Pamporovo 2 years back and had an absolutely hellish time. It was an absolute bargain but the staff where rude, there was nothing to do if you weren't on the slopes, not to mention the food that confined us to the bathroom for the majority of our stay.
So we would obviously, not like to go back there any time soon.

We have heard that Germany and Austria are quite reasonable.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks for your help,

Niederau. Harfenwirt - read the trip advisor reviews first to see whether it's for you though.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Borovets in Bulgaria. thats where im off to next year. Iv never skiied before but was told it was a good place for beginners. Iv heard that the town isnt a bad place with bars and restaurants for night time. And its also a cheap place.

But then again iv never been before so im going from hearsay. lol

I would not ski Bulgaria, have a look at some of the French resorts an hour from Geneva

I wouldn't recommend Bulgaria when there is so much choice in Austria, France, Andorra and, especially, Italy.

Some friends got a really goot deal at the Romantik Hotel in Zell am See on the Crystal Ski+ package during January which includes the ski hire and lift pass in the price.

Hotel rooms are good with nice pool, decent location and great food (I've stayed there a couple of times)

Some nice begiiners areas and easyish blues to progress to. Ski schools good - have used three over the years but these days we usually use Outdo, smaller outfit but they give a lot of personal care and attention.

Zell itself is an all year round resort so lots more in town rather than just snowsports. Some good shops and excellent nightlife. Regular direct trains to Salzburg to.

It;s not the cheapest location to be in, but could possibly be affordable and tick all your boxes.

Just been to Le Corbier with RocketSki. Really good value, nice learner slopes, prices not to bad, English speaking hotel giving great value for the price. Resort is very French so be prepared to practice the lingo!
Carving leaves me all on edge
