Hi there,
I thought I'd share some pre-season pictures from Engelberg this year. I've been in the village since 2003, and never seen anything like this. We have skied down to 1300 metres since October, and last week added another METRE of snow. The official stats say that we are above 200% of average snowpack.
See the dark blue in the picture above? You're looking at Engelberg.
October!
October as well.
October spray!
This is Friday in the village. Saturday was epic.
This is a video from Wednesday and Thursday last week from photographer Oskar Enander: http://vimeo.com/17198675
Cheers from the pow!

Was there in March for a week, good skiing although you have a bit of walking between some of the runs & lifts.
Tore knee ligs & still after 8 months waiting for diagnosis & pysio.
Zell am see booked for March with the BTSC so hoping full recovery by then as I don't want to join the walkers, going to a ski resort without skiing is not for me.

Wonderful conditions 8) I'm thinking that J2skiers should make a pilgrimage to Engelberg and test the facilities at Skiers Lodge

I think you meant to post this image for % snowfall.
Not quite 200% in Engelberg (it is near Disentis though!), but still f'ing good.
Had a friend in Engelberg on the weekend he said it was great. We were getting knee deep freshies in Davos. Not a bad start to the season.

I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Oh dear, I have 5 days off from Friday evening, what to do :D Think I might go on a wee snowboarding tour, Engelberg is legendary when it dumps and I need somewhere to rest my new 177cm hybrid cambered board.
