I've been to Passo and if you are anymore than a third year boarder you will be a "bored boarder", yes apres is cheaper and very friendly but ask your self what are you going for 8)

I have to agree that Passo Tonale is great for beginners or people who suffer from a lack of confidence but thereafter there is little to keep any intermediate or advanced person entertained.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about Bardonecchia but judging by other peoples comments I would say go for it.

I'd go for Bardonecchia. I don't snowboard much but hasn't it got the boarding stuff from the Turin winter olympics (2006?) so presumably that's all v. high quality. DOn't know about from a beginner's perspective though.

It's a lovely town too.

Passo is good for groupd of all abilities with the skiing down in Ponti (all same local lift pass) better for the good intermediates.

Off to Bardonecchia for the first time a week Sunday so am interested in the responces from those that have been.

I came back from Bardonecchia last week. Great intermediate resort. Lots of nice Blues, plenty of reds, hardle any blacks. Plenty of snow on the slopes, we had 16cm fall on our penultimate day there. Nightlife isn't a big deal, more of a family resort. The ski bus is free and very prompt.

A lot of bars do 'aperitivo' instead of happy hour between about 4pm and 7pm. Free snacks. Pizza, Bruschetta, etc. Gritty Bar near the railway station did one of the best, wasn't that expensive for drinks either.
