Go and ask on 'snowheads.com', you will get a lot of response there.

Amazing peice of journalism

Recent snowfall certainly has made things dangerous, I witnessed a huge serac failure yesterday off the Aletschorn which triggered a large slide onto the Langgletscher which we were skiing on at the time.

I have been to Obergurgl, and it is nice, but possibly a bit small. We always seemed to end up ski-ing home down the same route. But you can ski over to Hochgurgl, and there is a free bus connecting them via Untergurgl (?) which is below Hochgurgl by the road, if the lifts are closed when you come back.
The hotel we were in was silver dinner service and it was very amusing watching the waiters rush to snatch our knives and forks away if we missed out a course! There was no chance of using the wrong ones, so nothing to worry about (I have no idea how to tell a salad fork from an ordinary one).

Correspondents say avalanches have been frequent in the Alps this year after heavy winter snowfalls.
