Still, it’s hard not to have great time on a ski holiday. Next season can’t come soon enough!

For me it's a breath of fresh air to have a seven year old who nearly loves skiing as much as I do, over the years myself and Mrs W could have been called lazy skiers stopping here there and every where for coffee, snack, beer break, lunch.... not any more. I have never skied as much as I do now I take great pleasure in skiing the last run of the day not with Mrs W but Little W. Great fun

Ian, she is a sweetheart and at a fantastic age too. My daughter is now 21 but I remember her back then.

When I went with my daughter to Verbier last March, we stopped with a family of 4 who we had never met before in a chalet. They had a son of 10 and daughter of 7. My daughter is training to be a teacher so they kind of hit it off, but the little girl, Lucy, took a bit of a shine to me for some reason.
I skied with her Dad a few days, and we had a blast, but we used to meet up with his Mrs and the kids after lunch and ski with them for an hour or two.
I thoroughly enjoyed it for a number of reasons:
1. I never skied with my kids when they were that age, much to my regret
2. She loved every minute of it
3. She was actually quite good when she put her mind to it and had no fear at all
4. Her parents had almost given up on her until the first day I skied with them all, and for some reason she treated me like her instructor and did everything I said! I was Mr Popular with her parents, big time.
5. She was a complete nutcase with a fabulous personality and made me laugh a lot.

Here she is. Lucy, or Shrimp as I christened her, because she was small and always wore that pink outfit:

except when she wore the red one and called herself Lobster Lobster Fish Fish:

She did have the odd "moment":

Isn't she gorgeous?????

Its a great age, Ian. Make the most of it. She'll be bringing home boyfriends and going out in your car before you know it!

I’ve always sworn blind that I don’t want children - I’ve no patience with most of them and seem to lack the maternal gene somewhere, but there’s an odd one that’s really special and can melt even my non-child friendly heart. :D

I’ve a feeling that Little W and Lucy would be two such children – they seem really great and I’m sure their parents are very proud (cue Ian with the smug Dad look.)

Looking at it from the other point of view, it’s great to do something you love with your parents, and I think it brings you closer together. I started horse riding when I was 4 as it was something my Mum was passionate about and it’s something we’ve enjoyed together ever since.

And it’s not necessarily all downhill from here – I’m sure you’ll still be a proud Dad when she’s 30.

Your all correct guys they grow far too quick, but there is great fun and satisfaction in skiing together, we are already planning a tennis match she doesn't know I used to quite handy with the old bat mind you after the Tennis camp I took out and brought her her own Tennis bat as a well done present.
You talk about growing up I have just downloaded Lady Ga Ga for her, Kids
