Thinking about LGB this year anyone got any input? Wd be for me, intermediate to advanced, Mrs T who is nervous intermediate and the young ones who have three weeks under their belts.
Especially interested in whether there is enough activity like restaurants and such in Le Chinaillon or if it feels a bit like a bolt-on and whether there are good ski schools (I.e. not ESF).
Cheers

Have stayed in Chinallon for the last six years and I can confirm that the restaurants are excellent, plenty of accommodation both on and off piste, I would normally use the ESF as in resort they have been fine, unfortunately for the last two years my daughter has been lumbered with the same Instructor B-Queen from hell who has been poor, but the previous four instructors have been excellent, there are other ski schools in resort.
With the recent increase in apartments the resort does seem to be attracting more customers from the UK but the brits are still out numbered by the rest of Europe, for a small resort with appox 100k's of piste I never seem to get bored, all the locals are friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you, I must like the place as I keep going back, wednesday afternoon is the only pain as all the local schools hit the slopes so it can be busy but apart from that the pistes are quite, if you get bored there is always Le Clusaz down the road.
If you do decide to go PM nearer the time and I'll recommend some good place to eat.
If you decide to go and need ski hire I always use this family shop, I have in the past brought boots from them and received incredibly good customer service ,
I always hire Little W's equipment from them and they always throw in a ski locker if you hire gear from them which is handy if your accommodation is not near the slopes, the shop is next the Gettiers lift and the ski school meeting places.

Ian's covered it pretty well but just to add...
Starski is a good alternative ski school, with some excellent instructors.
There's a surprising amount of skiing for what's quite a compact resort, and a good lift system too. From what you say of your family, I think it would be ideal; early/nervous intermediates are very well catered for with some long confidence-building runs (best keep Mrs T off Le Lachat if you value your marriage though - head up there when you fancy a challenge!).
We've skied there a number of times and always enjoyed it. Food's great, locals lovely and scenery impressive. And if you like your birds, Eagles and Lammergeiers (3m wingspan) are regularly seen from the pistes. 8)
