Andrea Brimelow wrote:It is pretty fantastic but am currently really nervous about walking away from my life and the security it provides... I just keep reassuring myself with the thought of 13 weeks worth of skiing!

Don't be nervous...be excited! My brother did the same thing four years ago and has not looked back. He is currently in Peru 'exploring' and is back in Whistler for the 20th Nov to start his fourth season instructing (snowboard). He travels so much i can't keep up with him. i only get to talk to him nowdays on the internet. I am so jealous!!!

Good luck and have fun fun fun. :D

Hi All,
Go for it Andrea I spent 3 months in Soldeau on a Gap year qualifying to be an instructor and it was the best 3 months of my life and in some ways the worst as nothing has been the same since lol.
I was 31 at the time as well great age to do it.

As far as the apartments you have booked they are fantastic large clean 2 bathrooms in each apartment and the perfect location. Kath and Gibby will make sure you have a great time.
Brussels is about 300 meters from your apartment but then everything in Soldeu is no more than 5 mins walk away.
As fo lift passes book in the lift station lessons at the top of the lift and ski hire is good whereever you go.
Probably less people at Pic Negre than at the hire shop in the lift station.

Hi nix my 8th time in soldeu in Jan ,rate it highly for fun skiing rather than challenging, apres is great too.The main hire shop by gondola is surprisingly competitive ,veryyy efficient and good gear and you can store your normal gear in lockers which are worth every penny 1 will take your stuff for 3 of you about 10 euros each for the week. hire shop will swictch your gear if your need to without having to traipse down to pic negre.lift pass at gondola is your best bet although some of the large hotels do them as well.
