Newquay, shmooquay.
Nearly £3m on a reef that actually serves no purpose, for the sake of a small number of people who MIGHT try to learn how to surf there?
This is a disgrace. Where is the anti-reef petition I can sign? Is there anything about it on the Number 10 board? What a huge and unnecessary waste of tax payers money.

Totally agree, guess there were a few backhanders going on here between property developers etc. Just found out that all these luxury, designer appartments are actually owned by the council. Hope no-body buys them.
No residents were ever asked if they wanted it.
In to-days paper they are now talking of spending a small fortune on a Statue or something welcoming people to Bournemouth, currently the welcome to B sign is right outside the sewage works. As you first approach Bmouth the first thing you notice is the smell. Says it all really.
Maybe we should leave the political discussion for another forum.....my point was that Rose said she hoped nobody buys the properties mentioned, but if they are council owned, I am led to believe that a % of new housing has to be given to immigrants, and from experiences around the Peterborough region, those areas have turned into trouble spots, mainly because the new immigrant groups (often Iraqis, Kurds, Albanians and other Eastern Europeans) clash with each other as well as the existing immigrant communities, mainly Pakistanis and Indians mainly.
I didnt actually say there was anything wrong with immigrants per se.
We,ve got them already. These properties are in the million pound range, surely they would'nt
Weatherwise you dont get good surf its usually in stormy weather that its any good. Whilst Bmouth has got its share of undesirables, the biggest population is the OAP,s, and they come by the coachload Nov and Dec for the old tinsel and turkey weekends. What are they expecting a row of zimmer frames along the prom while the oldies have a quick dip before their bridge games.

You can put a large bet on those council properties being filled with immigrants. You will be thankful for the chavs when that lot arrive!

Yeah I agree with you Tony, not even mentioning groups, but any immigrant that goes to a country and seeks benefits and council houses during the first 5 years shouldn't be allowed in.
Anyway i didn't meant to hijack the thread, an artificial reef seems pretty pointless to me even more if you consider the weather in britain. Would be more suitable to a more moderate climate
