On the subject of Snow reports I would never trust the resort reports, they lie.
I was in Tahoe a couple of years ago and the lower base depth was reported as 125cm, I can only assume the reporter was colourblind and reporting the depth of the topsoil not snow, there was none.
Canada was similar, the snow depths they were reporting (300 cm+) were not accurate even if you counted the height of the drifts at the side of the road after the ploughs had added all the snow they lifted off the road. :roll:

from experience I have found that the Austrian resorts report fairly accurately, although I did notice whilst in Fieberbrunn earlier this year that the depth marker was in the middle of the piste and the grooming had probably added about another 5cms. Of cours last season 5 cms was a massive deal :P
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!
