I used to work in Switzerland and cover a few resorts, including Nendaz & Zermatt. Your best bet, if you're looking to simply go from the airport to your chosen Swiss resort and back again, is a Swiss Transfer Ticket. It would include the bus from Sion up to Nendaz as well. I used to point my customers in the direction of swisspasses.com (http://www.swisspasses.com/railpass/transfer/).

Yes, Swiss transfer ticket works well. It will take us all the way from Geneva to Zermatt this coming Saturday. No need to book a specific time.

Traveling from Zurich airport to Zermatt by train should I do second or first class. What is the difference between the 2 ?

Not a great deal, to be perfectly honest. First is not luxurious or especially comfortable; second is not a lot different although luggage space is pretty limited.

The saver day pass is a better deal than the transfer ticket. If you buy it 30 days ahead it gives you unlimited travel for 1 day for 52 CHF. I think in the past you had to have the residents half fare card but now anybody can buy it.

Yes, it's a new ticket introduced last autumn. It's valid on all the routes shown on the map on page two of this pdf https://www.sbb.ch/content/dam/sbb/de/pdf/abos-billette/abonnemente/ga/karte-geltungsbereich-ga-halbtax-stand-dezember2016_d_barrierefrei.pdf
