Niederau snow report

auffach is a free bus ride 20 mins up the hill from niederau normally a lot better snow,and newish chairlifts ,well worth a visit.

Next week we will mostly be drinking Grüner Veltliner in the snow (two out of two would be a result).

Austria is a fascinating country steeped in culture and history, whose winegrowing heritage stretches back over three millenia, but whose highly individual wines are little known beyond her borders.

If you have not done so already, have a go at the most well-known wine (apart from Riesling), Austria's very own Grüner Veltliner. The wine is very versitile, on its own or with food.

There are 10 of us due to go out to Niederau on the 3rd. Anyone any updates on the snow situation. I believe some expected this week. What is the night life like - We have three 19 year old lads with us. Any advise.

Have been to Niederau twice now and have booked again for next year. Nightlife is ok - the best apres ski bar by far is the Sports Cafe across the road from the gondola and beside the Hotel Austria. It's best to go there straight after skiing. After that your lads could probably go to the Cave Bar which doesn't open until 8.30 pm.

Thanks for that, will definately check it out so will our lads?? Has anyone got any up to date information on the snow or should I say lack of it? Forecast says snow next week fingers crossed.

I'm off to Niederau on the 3rd too, first time skiier so I hope there is snow. I will be the one in the cherry red ski jacket looking terrified!!

Any first timer tips for me?

just relax and have fun. we are in beginners too so may see you depending on what groups we get put in! my husband is jamaican so sure youll spot us!

You will have a great time learning to ski in Niederau. My hubby and I learnt there last year and have been completely bitten by the ski bug! We were with the Wildschonau Ski School (the reds) and the instructors are fantastic. It was our second visit this year and we've booked again for next year. Everything is pretty close to the village centre - the ski school meeting place, gondola and nursery slopes are all close together. The best tip is to have the mentality of a child when you are learning to ski - have fun and laugh at yourself (and others)! :lol:
