Can't get flights and car hire to work - flights into Geneva are rubbish times and can't rent a car at Chambery through airmiles.

Nope. Tried that option, no avios flights at all. Trust me, I've tried. Might well end up driving or hanging on late for a package probably.

Avios flights never seem to fit in with available accommodation. The only way it has worked for me is in either Austria or Switzerland where they seem more amenable to shorter stays or midweek to midweek.

Good luck - you have my sympathy as I'm still trying to juggle Avios flights with somewhere to stay around work etc. Keep the faith!

Lol TH - my opinion about access seems to hold true. You cant deny the prices. You will be OK with your shandys
