We were out in Belle Plagne in Dec. We used Oxygene Ski School for group lessons. The instructors, spoke great English and both my kids (11 &14, their second week skiing) were raving about the instructors and what fun they were. Their skiing came on leaps and bounds as well, although as it was the start of the season the groups were small. I would have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again. I believe they have a school/office in La Plagne as well.

1100 euro for ski school for 2 kids??????? is that a typo?
In my experience no groups are created on grounds on nationality, it goes on ability.
Most instructors in resorts popular with brits will speak english. I wouldn't worry too much although it would be nice if they could talk to other kids.

Similar query to Andy, we're off to St.Gervais les Bains at half term, which I understand is not on the usual Brit ski trail. Our 8 year old is booked in for group lessons and he's hoping there will be at least one other English child in his group. Anyone happen to be there that week with a child of similar age and ability?
He is a competent skier (2nd Etoile at ESF gradings) having had private lessons on the last 2 trips. This was following an awful week of group lessons when he was only 4, (so outside of school hols) with not one other English child to talk to. He was in the Jardin de Neige with 20 French children and an instructor who saw no need to speak English as there was only one English child. The result was a desperately unhappy child, and 2 anxious parents feeling awful dropping him off each day. We had to stand there pretending to video him for the duration so that he didn't feel totally isolated. ESF are great teachers, and he did learn a lot that week ("I do not know why ee iz crying, ee iz ze best in ze class" was the feedback from his teacher), but the memory is still painful for him. We can't afford private lessons this time, so he's in the group whatever happens, I'd just like to be able to assure him that there will probably be a fellow Brit there!Fingers crossed someone might be heading that way! Thanks!
