Well worst case you have Courmayeur and Chamonix <40min drive.

It was only a 10 minute drive from where I was staying in Saint Gervais so I reckon 20-25 minutes from Megeve. I always park at La Gorge gondola which on the far side of Les Contamines.

Okay, sounds like a potential plan. Thanks again for your comments

When are you going anyway, snow is back on Monday and seems to be a reasonable week. Finally around 20th winds come in from NW so cold and wet for Northern Alps vs dumping on Italian side.

Hi - we're there from 18th-23rd Jan. Skiing 19th-23rd. Which part of the Alps does Megeve qualify as!?

Remember Webcams can seem to cover up a multitude of sins …… the give away is 20cm lower slopes.
I skied Les Saisies last week and at 1500 the snow was fine …… when we skied to the more low lying villages, bellecombe, Praz sur arly
then it was snow scattered with stones with big brown patches, some of the snow that we had was falling as rain lower down, Crest Voland was suffering when we first went there but recovered with some snow fall.
To give you an idea in the whole week we only saw one snow cannon working that gives you some idea the problem they are experiencing with temperatures ….

That's true, but the only certitude is from people actually skiing the runs you're interested in all day to give a full report(!) ;)

My experience is that conditions change do rapidly from week to week all you really want to hear is reassurance - you'll only really know when you get there, and its usually ok.
