What happens if you're on piste when the accident starts, and off piste when it ends?

I have travel insurance.
It has a free upgrade to winter sports.
But it does not cover me off piste.
I want off piste cover.
If carre neige covers me then I think at £2 thats good value.

The Carre Neige also helps to support the local French ski clubs, which is good :)

Most, if not all winter sports insurance added to an annual policy or possibly a single policy only covers off piste skiing when accompanied by a guide. Check the terms and conditions. What or whom qualifies as a guide is open to interpretation by the insurer. So even if you are just off the side of the piste you technically will or advised to get carte neige or similar. You must check the terms and conditions. I believe the SCGB has winter sports cover that covers off piste without a guide - not 100% though. If anyone can get cover for a tenner with unaccompanied off piste, please let me know as I am looking at renewing my annual policy.

The Ski Club of GB insurance does cover off piste without a guide, but you have to pay the first £250 of Search and Rescue. You don't have to be a member to buy it.
