So let me get this right; carre neige covers you for any rescue off the mountain from anywhere, on or off piste, wave the card and its all paid for. But then once you're delivered to the hospital, carre neige stops covering you, in which case your winter sports holiday insurance kicks in, or EHIC card I guess.
For £2 a day, I don't know why anyone wouldn't have carre neige cover tbh.

Not if you open your mouth and say something like 'I'm terribly sorry, it was all my fault' if you collide with someone. My insurance policy says if you admit guilt you're not covered. I think this is ridiculous. I mean, I might well accidentally ski into someone and hurt them and quite naturally apologize for doing so. And I would expect my insurers to cover for me this. It's not as though I would deliberately ski into anyone and hurt them.
And I don't suppose your insurance will cover you if Stewart gets lost on his way to the ski resort with your skis and all your lugggage

The carre Neige also covers your medical expenses and repatriation back home as long as you live in Europe.
It will also pay you back for the money you lose on your lift pass when you can't ski/snowboard.
I always pay for the Carre Neige, on top of my travel insurance, because people who aren't resident in France can't buy the cancellation insurance for the Carre Neige. And my travel insurance covers me for other things like loss of my luggage, and loss of my passport etc.

Conflicting views here.
If I travel with my EHIC card, my own winter sports travel insurance policy, and carre neige, am I covered for every possibly outcome through injury or accident up the mountain, or not?

I've gone to Austria 4 times without a Carre Neige. Have I been leaving myself open to a nasty surprise?
