(1) Leaning back won't help you... As soon as the front of your skis remain weighted (even in fear) then you can steer at will. This was a good moment! :D

This was the big one for me last year (fairly newbie to this lark) - being uncomfortable with heighhts and death I was always inclined to lean back which clearly made life difficult. Last years revelation was brilliant - turns out that I can ski and it's easy (erm......to a point!)

Realising that I don't have to do my boots up so tight that the circulation in my feet stops (French method).

Skiing with boot clips undone is possible if you are balanced properly on your skis in the first place! As demonstrated to me by Warren Smith Ski Academy at Hemel Hempstead indoor slope.

Boots now on all day done up comfortably and no pain(looking smugly at all the others who have not had this revelation yet).
I can see my house from here...

I cant remember specific moments if I am honest.
However, having skied with a mate (Skidaddle) who has been sking about 25 years longer than I have, I picked up a hell of a lot from him. Trying to copy his perfect skiing technique, and his patient and useful tips came in very useful.
There was a time where I used to have an awkward body position, and I worked hard on correcting it, having seen it in a a couple of videos of me.

Certainly, the first moment I recall was when we stopped snowploughing and started parallel turning, as it suddenly started to click. That was 2001 in Val Thorens. But I had a hell of a lot to learn from that point.

Skidaddle said to me once in Sauze, after we skied a nice run in Sestriere (i was concentrating hard on getting technique and body shape right) that that was the best he had seen me ski and that everything was right. That moment stayed with me, and I tried to keep that in mind all the time.

I dont remember things like my first red run, but my first black was a good moment, after I'd survived it of course.

My first venture off piste in Verbier was also a landmark moment, and whilst I was probably very bad, I wanted to do it again and again.

I am also not sure when it happened, but I am now at the position where I dont really have to think about how to do it, it just happens, and seems to work.

I stopped sliding the skis and started edging and carving properly a number of years back now, and recall how the effect was much easier on the legs.

Doing the Hari Kari in Mayrhofen was definitely a good moment as well.

I am sure we all have similar moments to these, or will have in time.

i just feel each time I ski now, more and more confident and just generally better than ever. There isnt a run I wont try now.

I am going to print of Marksman's wise words and keep them with me! There will come a point where it will all go 't*ts up!' - usually Black Thursday, so I shall just read those few words, find myself an easy slope and sort myself out for the day - and come home with a grin on my face as per usual! :D :D

Meanwhile OH will have had several 'encounters', a few wipe outs and called someone a t**t in assorted lauguages!

And so we will retire to the bar..
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!
