Hi Milanomum
I guess there's a reason the flights to Linate were so reasonable... why is there a catch to everything?
My kids are older so don't need car seats but I agree with you about the public transport. Far too much hassle.
The cheap car hire I've found means they don't have snow tyres - only snow chains. I could change to a more expensive car with snow tyres. Anyone have any advice about snow chains?

hire cars dont have snow tyres. renting chains is expensive, you can buy them at the shell service station on the motorway, after you turn off the A4 to head to Aosta. They are around 35 euros to buy
