Really depends on your reasoning. I can see how it would make the experience so much more satisfying with all that time in between the official seasons but as Ranchero pointed out, it can be just as good with a few trips in between (or if its part of a bigger plan like assessing an injury). Might also mean that for someone starting out (like me), keeping your skills up throughout the year will make for a better experience in the winter as you won't have to spend two or three days "warming up" your technique again on the first winter trip. Also means I won't be trying to hurry on the Summer just so I can ski again.
L2a does look good for summer although I have my doubts about the picture they are painting on the summer skiing website - people semi-naked sun bathing in the snow. What a novelty though if it is really like that ;)
It's all gone rather quiet......

Yep Edge - really is like that on most days - although you can get rain, snow, white outs etc just like the weather anywhere.
Your hypothesis about summer skiing and the relative novice is spot on. Glaciers are limited in terrain and availability and lend themselves to working on technique and having lessons.
Mountains in the summer are glorious and as the skiing is limited to the morning time later in the day to do lots of other things or sit and sun bathe as you see fit.
Go for it !!
Nothing against Summer skiing, But if I can get the time off of work November here I come

Ian, that's a good call. Never been summer skiing, but it's supposed to be ok if you are working on technique. Apparently people tend to be disappointed if they expect summer skiing to be a skiing holiday ie a holiday in which all you do is ski.

We're in Tignes for 2 weeks in July. Main activities likely to be mountain biking, some watersports etc but we are hoping to do some skiing as well. I'll do a little report on our return.

Blimey. Over a metre of snow predicted this week (over 2,500m). Does this augur well for July skiing??
