Well ski hosting which I have never used in France has come to an end, I guess I will just have to get used to skiing without it 8)

You can safely tell Mrs P that she will have to vie with me for last spot, I was always bringing up the rear as I am not a speed jockey either.

She will be absolutely fine and us more sedate skiers can stick together and have just as much fun.

Sorry about not staying on topic
I can see my house from here...

Having skied in circles around Tignes on one occasion last week in very poor visibility, I am convinced I need my own personal ski host with me at all times when I'm ski-ing!

We missed the correct turning twice, because we couldn't see it, went up the Tommeuses lift twice, and ended up going down the Aeroski lift. And then we went up the Palafour only to miss another crucial turning - to the Aiguille Percee lift - which wasn't labelled either. So we had to ski all the way back down into Le Lac and go back up the Palafour. We took the correct turning this time, only to find that they'd just shut the Aiguille Percee lift! Luckily the lift guys pointed out a short cut back to the piste so we didn't have to walk back uphill. And then we had to ski back down to Le Lac (again!) and take the bus to Les Boisses, in order to ski down to Les Brevieres, where we were staying.

Luckily we all saw the funny side of this, but it could have been quite scary if I'd been on my own. And by that time I'd already skied the area for 2 weeks and 3 days, so you'd think I'd have known the pistes well enough not to miss crucial junctions. But it's very difficult navigating when you can't see properly

I realized I usually look at the mountains, as I always seem to know which direction is 'home', and head for the appropriate lift.

So I suppose if I continue to ski in France without ski hosts I will be doing an awful lot of ski-ing in circles and getting buses because I've missed the last lift

Maybe the French will set up information points at each junction with a helpful multi-lingual guide to advise me and other lost/confused skiers/boarders :?:
