Bad Gastein looks a god ski area. Some nice plush hotels too.
Some good deals to be had with ski miquel.

I suggest defecting to Switzerland. Crans Montana may suit your needs with several long gondolas, plenty of tree lined runs, abundant blues and a sunny aspect for those chilly early January days.

Hi Biki17, Inghams offer holidays to Crans Montana. If you want to self cater, Interhome also have a range of accommodation.

Go to CM in January, but forget it late season.
