Ischgl has a bigger area and probably better snow, but its mainly above the tree line, Schladming is much more in the trees. I really like the look of the place. Saalbach has god cruises and runs back to resort.
St Anton is simply brilliant, but your Mrs might prefer Lech, if you can afford it )
I'm off to Mayrhofen in Feb, no runs back to resort but fantastic skiing and a cracking little town.

Nonsense!! The Ahornabfahrt drops you right back into the resort, and is one of the best runs in the place!! And there is an Igloo at the top to have a few sups in

Expect Verbier levels of pricing!

I am jealous already.
A friend of mine who visits Zermatt every year at least once keeps telling me that Zermatt skiing experience is special, with no parallel anywhere else.
If that is true then I can accept the high prices.

Hi,
I just had a nice conversation this morning at our Saturday school with a modern language teacher whose wife is Austrian.

He recommended Ski Amade region, with Schladming and Ramsau areas being his favourite. Apparently not overpriced, not overcrowded and very pretty.
There is a good glacier near Ramsau too.
Any visitors to this region out there?

Can you feel the pull of the Matterhorn? It's quite irresistable I think 8)

Hi Ian,

If neither Austria nor Zermatt tick your boxes should I assume that you favour some of the French resorts?
Why?
