And there's only so much one can say about how to fix a dent in a ski, and it's been said :D

Who needs to talk about fixing a ski when you can talk about hatred of MUFC ?

Quite.

Anyway, I knew what you meant, but you didn't seriously think I would rush out and get some superglue and put it on my finger, did you?

Anyway, Sunday night appears to be where we all lose the plot. Just sat through tonights 2 episodes of 24 on HD, fantastic programme.

Did anyone else see Ski Sunday, and the ski cross in Alpe d'Huez? We were there then, and Ed waved to me from the Ski Sunday Range Rover whilst we were drinking a bottle of Krony waiting for the bus up to our chalet one evening!

Don't get Ski Sunday over here but my father fills me in on the important things.
I do get Eurosport 1 and 2 ... live skiing every weekend so today was able to see Lindsey Vonn do her thing and then Ms Alcott do the same, albeit a tiny bit slower.
Why does she have to wear those pink plasters on her face ?

Tony.... what was your first "owned" pair of skis ??

Blizzard something or other, I cant remember the exact model. They were soft intermediate skis to help me develop, used them about 4-5 weeks and then sold them to a mate who took up skiing before investing in some better stiffer Blizzards, which I sold last October along with my first pair of "wider" skis in order to find the purchase of my lovely Neo's.

How about you?

Still tinkering with the ownership thing.

Everyone I speak to says just rent ... you don't have to mess around at airports and if you hit a stone then you lose.

I understand both sides of the argument ... but if people improve every holiday then why buy ?

I am probably like yourself, where I would prefer to own my own "stuff" ......

Maybe I will have a look at the end of season sales .....

Do you know of any organisation for men where they can go skiing for a weekend if their other halves think 1 week per year is enough ??

(then I'll get more from buying!!)

I have always managed to get good deals when buying, and I haved always sold them on for almost as much as I paid for them, so cost wise I have not lost at all.
I do however ski at least twice a season, 3 if I can, this season it will be 4 times now!!
In which case, owning is a no brainer, as rental would have cost me something like £350 this season alone.
Ok, you have to cart your skis about, but thats only from the car to the check in, and then from the baggage carousel to the transfer coach. Not a problem.
Plus you have the massive advantage of knowing your own skis, as well as how they have been looked after. My rental paid of Stocklis in Andorra were lovely, I enjoyed them, but the Bandits I rented for a day in ADH had edges like rolling pins.

I understand arguements both ways, but to me the best thing I ever bought were a perfect fitting pair of boots, but owning your own skis just gives you a little bit of a kick somehow, and you feeol quite proud and connected when you click into your own bindings. Call me mad, but I found myself talking to my skis a few times whilst out on the slopes recently, encouraging them to turn that corner a little quicker, or thanking them for getting down some seriously steep offpiste for example.
Maybe I have finally gone mad....

Be careful what you end up with if you do buy, and look after it. They will possibly become your bezzie friends.

As far as I remember we have the same boots ... Salomon Impact 8's.

Still the whole ski buying thing is a jungle .....

If you see any good deals on some "on piste" intermediate skis then let me know !!!
