I am going to try and post some photos on my flickr account to try and point out the bits that you have to shuffle along. One of the "blue runs" actually used to be a red, and unfortuantly for some reason, photographs dont show the steepness of the runs. I would say this blue, is rather a tricky red!

I myself found this very scary and the conditions were very good... and after we had a massive dump of snow red 24 (or was it 23) became more like mogul city because of all the powder and I found it hard to turn. Also again because of the volume of people it made it harder for to come down as you could identify a place to turn then a ski school overtake you and swamp the area.

Karen, it sounds like you had an unfortunate experience so, if I may, I'd like to add a little positivity to this thread for the sanity of the many people who are booked to go to niederau this season.

Said red (and I promise you, we didn't wait for everyone to pass, it was just graham and I):

Thats a contrast! I am just waiting for my pics to upload in flickr and you can have a look at how busy it was. Just the volume of people. I was talking to an instructor in the queue and he was saying last week and this week were very very busy, but after and before were fine. I dont think anyone should have much bother out of these 2 weeks.

Even your photo doesnt really show just how steep that hill is! and that is the red!

Unfortunately, half term is a nightmare in a lot of european resorts. We went to alpe d'huez (a huge area) a couple of years ago and it was so busy that we had to queue for 45 minutes just to get onto the lift that takes you up from the bottom of the village to the top! I missed my lesson the first morning and managed to catch them as they were getting on the lift on the second. Horrific, it can make or break a holiday.

You can see here the amount of people on this button lift, and from this picture it was realtively quiet, it was normally this long but wider!

This was red 24 or 23 cant remember. You can see a lot of people here, but again this was taking during a quiet time. There were more people than this!

As you can see from this photo taken at the top of the gondalo, only a few people?..... lol

part of the push/heave yourself bit at the bottom of the blue run at the top of the gondala

This is to show what you have to ski down should you chose the blue run to the right of the gondala (the steep hill in the background) and then follow down red 19 which is even steeper (unless you kick your skis off and carry them back up the hill (where the skier in the white is going down)

this is something you dont see everyday! A woman in her underwear in the snow!

Just to show you when the 2 foot of snow fell, the kids were loving it and hubby was chucking them into the mounds of snow like you would at the swimming pool.
