Back from Niederau today

When Tony wrote this, I was somewhat concerned. I like Niederau, and it isn't nice that there would be any assocation with this kind if activity. I too then read through the whole thread. It does look as though someone has been playing. As much as I love Niederau, I deplore this stuff. I think Tony has got this right, it isn't a for/against thing, it is a game by someone.

3. Niederau is perfect for some people, not for others. I voiced my opinion on how I found the place, as did Caron-a, as did Karen72. There are others on this forum who regularly big-up the place, and fair play to them, if thats what they want. Many people go back to places time and time again, while others decide its not for them and never return. Quite why some people have to take offence to someone elses opinion is beyond me.

I doubt that Niederau is perfect for anyone, not even me. As much as I love the place I don't "big-up" Niederau. It is modest in the skiing area, rated highly for the red ski school, as a resort for beginners, and offers fairly challenging sking. It is a friendly resort. I ski and chat to a number of the T/O reps, andthey all want to remain based here.

I certainly did not read any interpretation that anyone had taken offence. A difference of opinion is not offence.

Actually, I think it is J2skiers that will determine if they wish to discuss an individual resort. Any resort will be brought into discussion by the will of the people, for the people, by the people. Should people wish to discuss another resort, they are quite at will to do so. That is what freedom of speech is all about.

Niederau is a ski place, just like any other. It is a working village, with families, organisations, interesting individuals. So is Adelboden, Zinal, and a million other ski places. It certainly isn't quaint.

Stay calm, pray for snow, keep the faith, sing while you ski. It's a beautiful sport.

I think ise hit the nail on the head in a post on one of the star threads, the problem is potentially that it is not used enough and if it was maybe this would balance out the 'I am going to one star you because you defended a ski resort' and the 'i will five star you because you hate Niederau' brigade (vice versa).
