Reminds me of the debate befor the Iraq invasion. The last eight years have been insane. The crazy thing is that just as it was with the war, so many here have no clue about the reality of this economy. Few believe that this is going to be bad for years, not months.

I'd not thought of that but the tone was similar now you mention it. Let's hope that the ultimate expression of that sort of empty headed discourse was Sarah Palin and things can only improve. Both situations are good example of the sort of trouble that you can get into when what you believe becomes more important than actual facts :roll:

Sorry to hear that news Tony. No time is a good time for that news but it just plain sucks at this time of year.

I agree to a point with who's fault it is but really it isn't the American people's fault but really the blame sits at the feet of the soon to be gone (thank God) leader. I fully believe we will see in our life times the trial of GWB for war crimes.

I think if Peter Schiff, in the video link that ise posted had some power then the mess would have been curtailed years ago. All the other guys must be in government's back pocket. Peter is the only one that made sense ... and notice the dates of his predictions. The only thing he missed was gold reaching $1000. But only by about $20 +/-.

It's looking like I'll be unemployed all winter. In the last six weeks there has not been a single job coming through my union hall. There are now nearly four hundred electricians on the bench at my union in St Paul and I believe Minneapolis union has several hundred waiting for work. Many of those electricians that are working, are on three and four day weeks.

The annoying thing for me was at the time our ski hill was hiring, I had taken a job with a contractor, but it only lasted three weeks. Now the ski hill is no longer hiring. Looks like I'll just have to go and ski every day. Every cloud has a silver lining :wink:

Mike, I am afraid that I do not agree with you. Both Bush and Blair offered themselves up for re-election at points in time, well after the initiation of hostilities.

In both cases the electorate returned them to power, in the full knowledge that the WOMD were just a lie.

If you/we know your politicians are lying to you, and you also know that the result of those lies have cost the lives of hundreds of British people, and thousands of American people, (and a few hundred thousand other innocents), and the electorate still vote for them?....

Tony_H is half right. He just missed the fact that the British are to blame as well.
