The blurb on the retailers website, not Hestra's, stated the gloves were waterproof. However as the velcro attached inner lining is fleecy and the leather seams didn't look like they were sealed I decided to test them under a running tap just to make sure. For skiing, unless you ski in rain, the Hestras are more than fit for purpose for most skiiers.

Waterproof is a relative term for clothes. Unless you have an impermeable membrane then everything has a saturation point and will let water in sooner or later. Mostly the idea Goretex is waterproof is a sham, the true life is often only around 20 days before performance is degraded.
I don't need to, but then I'm not the one trying to type wearing gloves

These are my gloves, and I got them from backcountry.com

There seem to be lots of happy users leaving comments. I'm guessing that by my using the Hestra Balm I'm adding to the waterproofing.
Hestra state they are waterproof as well, so maybe you were unlucky with a faulty pair??

Went to see a ski-snowboard movie last night at the cinema, like a promo thing. I dreampt of snow all night. Since I got home tonight I have done my edges, waxed my base, polished the top of my board and drank gin.
