'fraid not ... Looking up it's on the righthand side. Actually it replaces the single chair and then extends its range.

Oops really sorry about that Jan and thank you so so much for posting the pic with the Alpehof (by the way Dave, I asked to book the Auhof before the Alpenhof but unfortunately was fully booked boo hoo.)

Thanks for all the info though, its been a great help. I take it the beginners slope is for all beginners or do some companies have different slopes? I am just thinking I could ski to the bottom of the lift every so often to check on the kids (lol) take a few aerial pics of them on the way back up? and from the looks of it we look close enough to nip back to the Alpenhof for lunch? or am I being a bit ambitious?

Thank you for the reply Dave. There are five of us so we would need 2 taxis - do you know roughly how many euros?

Glad you like my name but as a lady (?) I won't be thumbing any lifts!!!

Also is it better to buy the local ski pass and just upgrade on the days we want to ski the Welt?

Could I be really cheeky and ask where the Hotel Harfenwirt is on the picture?

Ok, so all slopes are open to all skiers.

And then, you may not presume that your children will be on that particular beginners slope. There is another one in the village, which I think it is fair to say carries a greater proportion of the beginner classes.

So, if the children are on either of the beginners slopes, you have a mountain run that will bring you into the appropriate slope

If I was taking the children's class, and you popped up every hour, I'd kick your ...!! And so would your kids, they're having fun, and you are embarrassing them. :)

When you drop the children off before ski class, ask where they will be at what time, for lunch. I am not sure, but I don't think the Alpenhof is good for lunch. ... is it?

Wherever you end up at lunchtime there are a lot of eating places. When you drop the children off, ask some of the other parents what their plans are.

Later in the week, at laest one day, take the children up the main Gondola, for a look around, eat and drink. You will of course have to bring them down again!

Better to take a mini-bus taxi. I would guess 20 euros each way, so 4 Euros each. Phone them from your mobile when you are finished skiing.

Lift passes. I buy a season pass so, I doesn't matter if we take a day elsewhere. We will be in Niederau at New Year with friends, (also staying at the Harf), and they will be in the same position. If we decide beforehand that we are taking a day out from Hopfgarten, they can buy a 5 day pass for Niederau.

So this winter, a 6 day pass is 146 Euros, a 5 day is 127 Euros. A day pass fom Hopfgarten is about 35/38 Euros I think. In Hopfgarten, take 5 min to visit the church, it has a fabulous interior.

The Harfenwirt is at the opposite end of the village, in the right direction for Hopfgarten. The T-bar is straight over the road from the Harf, and you can ski back to the roadside. Hotel is about 5 min walk from ski centre. The Bichlwirt is about 2 min the other way.

The Austria is a great location, straight opposite the Gondola. The hotel, shop and ski hire attached are all run by daughters of the Blachfelder family.

I recently found out that my younger son had tried snowboarding a couple of weeks ago in Scotland. I just threatened to cut him out of my will, but I think the ratio of falls/metres boarded was such that he has already given up.

There is an issue for boarders in Niederau. Once you are on the run, any run, it's as good as anywhere else for boarding. However, the top of Niederau is a plateau, and the paths between runs were designed for skiers. So if your young one wants to board the mountain, you are all going to be slow between runs.

Any other Niederau specific questions, just fire away.
