What an amazing last few days we have had. Despite the Level 5 avalanche warning and the high winds, poor vis, cold temps and limited lifts being open. We managed to find some amazing powder and plenty to keep us busy all day on Friday. :-D

After a slightly late start. Got up the mountain by 10am We headed for the trees. The Arc 1600 forest and other lower slopes had held the snow well without being messed up by the wind. The result. Excellent deep powder everywhere. We kept going all day, met other friends for the afternoon and finshed by skiing a great back country route down to the middle station of the Funi and home. :D

The only bad point in the day was when I found I had lost my phone. I think it fell out of my pocket when I was helping someone look for his ski. Oh well!! (Please send me a PM with your number if I had it already as I did not back up my phone numbers and have lost them all.)

Still it was a great day.

Then today the morning started with blue sky, but it did not last. We managed to make a couple of routes in the fresh snow away from the resort before the clouds closed in completely. Going down to the Chapel was fun, as was skiing in the Malgovert forest area. :sH:

By lunch time the snow was falling lightly and the vis was poor, but we still managed to have some fun through the trees down to Arc 1800 and then a late lunch at the Altiport before finally heading home. :D

I think these two are the ones I like the best for today. Plenty of deep powder out there still. :-D

At last a few brief moments when the sun came out and the sky turned blue. :-D

Having found only flat light and very low cloud in Les Arcs first thing this morning we headed over to La Plagne. Made it down to Champagny via various off piste routes and a few pistes in flat light for lunch. The pistes from Arc 1600 right across to Champagny were all in very good condition and it was a very pleasant ski on and off piste the whole way especially in the tree sections. :D

After lunch we headed up the top of Roche de Mio and then all the way down to Bauches Chairlift off piste. The sun came out and I managed to get some more photos before the clouds completely returned bringing flat light again. Finally crossing the Vanoise Express and stopping at the Altiport above Arc 1600 for a drink before heading home after the lifts had closed. The end of another god day!! :sH:

The pics of today are now posted in the photo section of my facebook page. Take a look. Here are the two I like the best from today!

Just got home. Up early tomorrow as they may be opening the Bellecote so want to get some fresh track if we get over the other side quickly so this will be a short report tonight. :sH:

Today was another powder day. Blue sky and sun all day with fresh powder everywhere, what more could we ask for. :-D

We headed straight up to Arc 2000 and the Varet and then Grand Col to hunt out some untracked powder. Found a few places and then went down the Col de Chal to Nancroix. All untracked to the bottom. Very nice. had a picnic on the way and then played around above the Derby before heading to the altiport for a little drink via the Arc 2000 bowl including the bordercross course which was fun. Passed through Arc 2000 just to ride on the magic carpet and Disney Arc ( Arc 1950) to see if George was around ( he was closed).

Finally having a quick stop at the Altiport and paying a visit to the Les Arcs Folie Deux (The Arpette student party night) and home. :-P

The stars are out tonight and tomorrow promises to be another powder day!! Have just posted a few pics of today on my facebook page. Here are the two from today I like the best. Good night!! :) :)

What a fine day we had today. Fresh powder again and again all day!! After a quick warm up in the forest above Les Coches we headed up to Roche de Mio, but found the Bellecote still closed. Not a problem, found some good faces to play on all morning and finally hiked up to the high valley above Champagny for lunch. :D

After lunch had a great decent in fresh untracked snow all the way to the bottom and then started on our journey home via Plagne centre to try the new Verdon Sud chairlift (very nice) and a few gullies plus the new kids piste. Then down through the forest of Les Coches again and back to Les Arcs and a well earned drink at the Altiport before home. More powder tomorrow I think!! Can you ever get to much of a good thing? NOPE!! :-D

The pics of today are now posted on my facebook page in the photo section. Take a look. Here are the ones I like the best today.

Here are the details of the last few days. Conditions are still great in Les Arcs and La Plagne, but the powder is gone although there is still pockets of soft snow to be found. Enjoy!!

On Wednesday and Thursday we had several super off piste runs in La Plagne. On Wednesday morning we headed over to the Champagny side and skied the off piste valley high above the village. Then we headed over to the Bellecote glacier and finished the day with a long run back down towards Les Coches.

On Thursday morning we had another run down to Champagny which was brilliant and worth the trek through avalanche debris down to the bus stop. The day ended with La petite face nord de Bellecôte. There was a long powdery run from the top, tapering off with some more crusty snow and then some better snow on the narrow path down Nancroix, where we had a welcome drink before getting the bus back to Peisey. What a fantastic day!

Here are my favourite pics from the last few days:D . One word describes the last few days, AWESOME!! More pics of all the routes on the Les Arcs Winter facebook page in the photo section. Enjoy!

(Yes, we really skied from the top of that mountain all the way off piste to the bottom of the valley behind us! :-D )

So many places to put fresh tracks, what a winter! Jan 12

Another face all to ourselves! 12 Jan

The end is in sight! Petit North Face. 12 Jan

Plus a couple of others to make people think before going off piste! Look what we found out of sight half way down the route.

I new about this from scouting the route earlier, always check out where you are going with the pisteurs and have the right safety kit! Jan 12

Another slide, I would not want to be here in the afternoon! Jan 12

On Friday we skied over to the Forperet Restaurant near Mont Albert for Lunch. On the way we managed to find a little untracked snow and on the way back we had a good run down the valley below the Bellecote on the new Black piste which is now open. Today I just went to the opening of the new Mont Blanc Chair and came home again so no pics. More to come tomorrow when we are out skiing around Les Arcs. :D

Here are the pics I liked best. It is very cold outside so the snow should bond well and give a good base for the next snowfall. More pics in the photo section of the Les Arcs Winter page if you are interested.

If anyone is interested in having the chance to be in the pictures when we ski these routes send me a PM and we might be able to arrange something.
