La Thuile

Been lurking these forums for a few weeks, but this is my first post :)

I've been to La Thuile twice, most recently 2 years ago so I doubt it's changed too much since I last went. Going again on 23rd Jan for a week and getting really excited!! (Hence the lurking on Ski forums!)

To clear up the Drag lift / Chair lift confusion, you can get all the way from La Thuile to La Rosiere by Chair lift and ski-ing, however three is no way to avoid the Bellecombe 1 drag lift to get back (and it's REALLY long), you can avoid the Bellecombe 2 by taking a left at the end of B1 and you will eventually end up at the Piccolo San Bernado chair lift.

Don't be too put off by the drag though - it's well worth the trip to La Ross, there are some fantastic runs over there, you also tend to find that if it windy in one of the resorts, it's more sheltered in the other, depending on the direction of the wind.

Your pass will also let you Ski Courmayeur, which is a 10 minute bus trip away, never made the trip so cant give an opinion on the area, but deffo plan to do so this trip.

Hi I skied La Thuile 2 years ago and stayed at Hotel du glacier, we enjoyed our stay and the snow was excellent, however i found the resort quiet and was told the snow was not always as good as we got it

We went to La Ros last year and you can get 'TO' France from La Thuile by chairlift 'BUT' the only way back is by a 10 minute drag-lift. It is worth it though for the spectacular views and some nice skiing in La Ros.
