Definitely not just you, Nelly. I have lost count of the number of times that I have used Innsbruck, but every time I use them, I am aware that doing so carries a greater risk of diversion. I have several rep skier friends, and bad Innsbruck weekends are a nightmare for them.
It is made worse because from some departure points, several T/Os share one flight company ~ and in certain conditions, it cannot meet safe landing criteria when others can.

It is a good one to use though, great views and close to the mountains.

Dave, run this apparent issue with Thomson Airways planes by me again, as to why they can't land at Innsbruck in bad weather, but seemingly anywhere else in the world. And also which planes on their fleet this refers to - the Boeing 737-300s, 737-800's, 757-200s or the Airbuses they have now got courtesy of First Choice?

Tony, we flew into Innsbruck with Thomson in February and:

1) we were delayed at Gatwick for 2 hours because they were making a minor repair. When we finally took off and about an hour away from Innsbruck, the Capt announces that we were going to have to turn around again because there was a minor fault on the plane that could only be repaired at Gatwick;

2) second flight out - we are about an hour or so away and the Capt announces that Innsbruck airport will be closed by the time we land (8pm)so we'll be diverted to Munich. After landing, we are informed that there is an issue with the luggage and then informed that the tour companies hadn't been made aware of the diversion. So, from the original resort ETA of 2pm, we actually get in at 2am the next morning.

I'm still bitter about the whole incident.

But, this digresses away from your question about Innsbruck. The answer to which I don't know.

With the greatest respect, you're right. Its totally irrelevant. That could have happened anywhere on any airline.
