Eggman, from reading your link, it seems that this is a ski teacher, not a certified UIAGM Mountain Guide. Is that correct?

Hi Bandit, that's correct he is a Ski Teacher, but he always takes a Qualified guide with his party's. If you give him a ring he will always give some good advice. :-)

Thanks for clarifying that Eggman. Personally, I won't be heading for Chamonix anytime soon. I would have skied the VB a couple of winters ago, after booking and paying for a Guide privately, through http://www.guides-du-montblanc.com/uk/index_uk.html who I cannot recommend.

Bandit, sorry to hear you didn't manage the VB what happend? I did Mt Blanc this Summer with the St Gervais guides, I think Don uses them as they are all local and I would recommend them.( A lot of the guides do both ski guiding and climbing) I recommeded Don for anyone that does not speak good French. He will sort out the whole package for you )

Eggman, after hearing any number of excuses, a local resident has told me that we were probably gazumped by someone more wealthy wanting a guide for that day, and the next..and the next (you get the idea)

Just seen this Blog post from a local skier. Well worth reading if you are going up to Grand Montets, or thinking of skiing the V.B.this month.
