I spent day after day on French red runs (US single diamond grade) with no poles...carving on 190's. Likewise it was essential to be able to skate on skis for about a kilometre, or face a long walk :D
This isn't about poles. It is about an approach to learning that I thought deserved a little more respect. I was just curious to know how much the instructors gave thought to core concepts. A couple of lines would have answered the question, end of story. Instead they took the ****.
To make it easy, it involves the pros and cons of inlination Vs angulation.
