To me it remains a bit vague trencher, otherwise I would have not asked, all I looked for was a bit of explanation in what you were saying to guide some of the (less knowledgeable folks like myself) in providing an answer. If you are suggesting what I think you are then this perhaps belongs in the Pole Plant thread or a lead on of similar topics as a lot of the counter you suggest is created by certain hand movements or positions to get in to (which you suggested al through that thread). THe pole plant can be made in such a way that it prevents the over rotation.

I guess this also doesn't outline the answer to your question but if I don't understand the question I can't give you a suitable response whilst the above does still hold true.

Edit no. 26: If it does remotely lead to excessive inner tip lead I suggest you check out the 28 page monster on snowHeads and that admin locks this thread

I think you figured out what hip counter is, but excessive tip lead is not a fundamental flaw, just an indication of excessive hip counter. So nothing to do with tip lead.

did I? golly! clever old me

I'm with Ross, let's knock this on the head and lock it if required. I'm fully aware what hip counter, I'm just not prepared to play this game.

I didn't ask what it is, I assumed anyone with some basic knowledge would know or at least figure it out. I don't think you know what the flaw is because it is not part of your instructor traning and the instructor training did not require you think laterally. It's not a game. It is a test of deeply you understand what you are teaching.

I resent that you have no addressed me with a response after still 2 replies to others. It would have been both kind yet expected of you to dignify me with a response no matter how 'stupid' the question.

Oh well.

Trencher, just in case you think that BASI or European instructors are too reliant on teaching with poles, and don't teach their students to skate on their skis....I'm afraid you'd be wrong. I spent day after day on French red runs (US single diamond grade) with no poles...carving on 190's. Likewise it was essential to be able to skate on skis for about a kilometre, or face a long walk :D

I'm sorry Ross, but you were way off in your answer and then your edit was rude.
