Prices have gone up, but we booked early in May for a small party and prices were the same as our previous holiday.
As regards Inghams, always found them competitive, friends booked in same resort through Crystal, and prices were very similar.
One more point, regarding internet booking, we had a very fair price offered over the internet,we went to our local independant travel agent to ask if they could they match the cheaper price, after a brief discussion and a word with the manager they matched the price. very friendly and very helpful.

I booked the same holiday with Inghams and it worked out £500 cheaper than Crystal, who I usually go with. The price difference was because inghams gave a bigger discount for early bird and internet booking. We have booked a 4 person log cabin but only two of us going and crystal supplements were a lot more. We also booked 5 excursions, all artic safaris, crystal charged double for some of them, even though they were all booked with same safari company.
Sorry, I didnt mean it to come across like that. But I have never found it better to go DIY, compared to finding good value packages, thats all.

If you want to go cheaper - try booking flights and transfers with crystal/inghams (or someone similiar) and then do hotels and all the other bits independently. You'll save your beer money and then some! Also, as you pay for your hotels on departure (instead of 8 weeks prior to your holiday) you'll p'raps even earn some interest on your money in the bank - so long as it doesn't crash, of course!!!

I guess you cant say carte blanche one way or the other, but with the packages I manage to get, there is no way in the world it would be cheaper to do them DIY as suggested. If you are paying full whack brochure price at half term however, you may have a point. Horses for courses I suppose.
I defy anyone to find what I have got booked for any less by booking flights, transfers, hotels etc themselves.
