They have traineaux in Les Arcs, with a little pound full of dogs in their kennels. Traineu is French for sled or sleigh, traineaux is the plural.

fantastic, french lessons as well, and boy do I need them. Michel Thomas is great but I need more input. thank you

yes, I found that interesting as well, I've been mistranslating that "chiens de traîneau" from the verb traîner which then means dogs that drag or similar, it did seem to make perfect sense but it does look like sledge dogs is a more accurate translation.

Hi guys,

Could anyone tell me where can I see what are the prices for "ski monitoring" and "ski equipment rental" for Lienz? I have a group who wants to go to Lienz this year, for "New Years Eve", and I don't realy know where can I found this kind of informations.

Thanks.

When I went to Austria a couple of years ago I had just got over pleursy and pneumonia, and had broken several ribs as a result of coughing. So ski/board was out of the question, but I still wanted to go to the top of the mountain. Every time we tried the funicular it was jam packed and not a pleasant experience. So we went on the first one up at 7.30am. There was a bloke, his ski's and his dog. He was a local who had to be at work at 9am, but said he needed to have just one run every morning before work but also his dog need excercise every morning. He did not have time to do both. So both up in funicular, he skied down, the dog ran alongside.........best of both worlds. He said the dog waited by his ski's every morning just waiting for his master and that run.
I'm a laydee

I've seen this a few times as well, and the dogs are really well behaved both on the slope and outside the cafe. However these belong to locals and are not on the pistes at peak times. There is no way I'd do this, or even be allowed to do this, both for the safty of my dog and other people.

I really need to find a resort or resorts that have special routes for use with dogs. When marked dog routes are not available I have gone back country but for safty reasons I limit myself to being very close to marked cross-country routes and never go alone.

Thanks for the link, I've read this and will continue to watch this site.

The States are much more into skijor and I have chatted on various forums and found mentors to help with training. (I trained my dogs by running behing them, great fun {Cani-cross})

Trencher, are you sure you're not missing one of your sheep :?:
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!
