I stand corrected, he was pleased to land, it was the approach which was scary.
Wx was 60kt wind, heavy snow, low cloud and a 180 deg turn away from a mountain that they could only see on radar.
But he did say the next time he went it was sunny and calm and no trouble at all.

My last flight out of there we were diverted to Munich, the day Freezy flew in I believe, because of thick fog.
yep that was us  sat in stansted for an hour before taking off and then just crossing into Austria had to turn back and sit at Munich for 2 hours (because the fog was so bad they SHUT the airport)or so before we could finally head to Innsbruck, got there and whadayaknow :?: not a spot of fog :!: then got made to sit on the transfer coach for another 90mins. baaa baaa :!: thanks C***TAL ski holidays  Got chatting to a local at the airport whilst waiting for our bags and apparently the local pilots fly in and out no problem but even they couldn't fly it was that bad. So for all those flying to Innsbruck this season I hope you don't experience anything as bad.

However, the agent has no idea why the tour operator have done this so we're keeping our heads down and looking forward to it.
Thanks for all the advice. :)

You can be sure it was the threat of exposure on J2Ski that drove the result!

Presumably bookings are a bit down and the hotel and tour operator are desperate. It will be interesting to see how it works out, will so many people avoid peak times that the hotels fill up low season? If someone cancels their New Year trip will they not go at all or look to go low season?

oh god I hope not! we're in the unusual position of booking late this year(by late I mean late February) so will undoubtedly be going low season
