Not everywhere in the Alps! We had an excellent time on skis in Espace Killy last Christmas.

The current forecasts for Soldeu are showing rain for the next few days up to around 2500m and then the freezing level drops thereafter. However still a bit earlier to have a proper feel for the Christmas week.

slippy slidey snow......me likey!

Forecasts come and forecasts go. You were lucky BB. I had friends on their bikes through December in Les Arcs.

If they were to be believed Soldeu would be under 3 metres of snow. 14 day forecasts have been showing dumps 'next week' for the last three weeks!

'The next notable snow forecast for Soldeu el Tarter is 2cm, expected on 21 November, with around 103cm forecast over the next 7 days - and up to 219cm possible the following week.'

How much are Grandvalira paying you Admin?

Not nearly enough!

You missed out an important note from that page... "Snow Forecasts beyond two days ahead are subject to significant change and variable reliability." ... which is why we qualify next week's outlook with a "possible" at best.

That said, the snowfall now in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday of this coming week does look like it could be substantial above 2,000m and maybe to 1500m.

Further out, the forecast models have been showing a turn to cold for the start of December for a while... and they are swapping the precipitation in and out like a very indecisive thing at the moment so very uncertain. Does look promising for the Pyrenees though.

I reckon it'll snow a bit, somewhere. 8)

...and... it's out again this morning...

Still some interesting possibilities far out though.

Worth noting, for those convinced that the forecasts always tease us with quantities... is that this weeks snows (most significantly Thursday and Friday, Zermatt in the firing line) originally appeared in the long-range forecast as minor snowfall but have built progressively as they come closer. The first week of December is clearly challenging the models at the moment, however, and could go either way.

I think you need to have a look at your 14 day forecast program admin. Showing very large accumulations again 'next week'!
