Hello wise forum frequenters

off to Kaprun in Feb and haven't booked our lift passes or equipment hire with Crystal as i thought maybe arranging it myself would be more cost effective, maybe better gear for same money and regarding lift pass perhaps paying in Euros once we get to Kaprun instead of sterling would be cheaper?

i'd be grateful for any recommendations.

happy skiing everyone! :-)

Sorry meant to reply to the apes ski question . Can't help with Kaprun I'm afraid ( though we've always had good ski deals with Crystal). Sorry to confuse you!!

ah i see. no worries :)

i think i can still amend my booking to add on the passes and hire etc so if nobody around can help then they're still an option.

Hi SG,

Good skiing at Kaprun.

OK, ski hire first. I don't have a Crystal brochure to hand, but Inghams charge £69/£90/£120. At 1.2 Eu/£, and through J2ski, the cost is £60/£77/£93. There is no way of comparing what you get, but you don't know what you are getting from the T/O anyway.

Check where Treffpunkt Eurosport is, in relation to your hotel.

Lift pass. Have a look on the Kaprun Bergbahn website, and see what their Euro charge is. Compare this with the brochure price. Allow a little for the benefit of the Tour rep delevring to your hotel.

Many thanks Dave.

i'm going to go through Treftpunk, we dont know exactly where we are staying in Kaprun as we have booked the 'guesthouses' so they aren't specific but i guess it can't be too far away.
Would you happen to know where to buy a lift pass in the resort?
exchange rate accounted for it seems cheaper to pay € over there rather than book in advance with Crystal.

You can always buy lift passes at the gondela base station. Kaprun isn't a huge village and there will be a ski bus.

You can see the location of treffpunkt on skiset. It is in the village. I think the gondola is a skibus ride.
