It is a combination of several factors.
Are you over weight? Are you in top shape? Is it poor technique....leaning back? Its is not old age . I am 81 and I still ski the moguls and powder without quad burn. I started skiing at 51. It is not old age!

Most likely cause may well be that you are too much "in the back seat" (weight back) on your skis.
Try a good athletic stance leaning forward from the ankles with an easy balance.

VTers, you are probably right. I used to backseat a lot and it is a difficult position to ski in. takes a lot of effort

You want to check your posture , Sitting slightly back seat will hit your thighs in a very short time

It's all in your stance .rise a little and be relaxed and ready for the bumps.
My thighs only burn 4.30ish on the last few runs of the day when it's gets busy and crowded on the home runs only

I got it after 2 hours of snowboarding but just upped my gym work and its been fine
