I am trying to book a package holiday to this area, but can't seem to find anything. I would consider booking independently but having never been here before, dont really want to waste time trying to get lift passes/equipment etc.
We need to get somewhere in this area due to my children skiing nearby the same week (but with a school trip).
I would really appreciate some help.
Many thanks

Hi
As far as I know, there are no British companies offering package holidays to either Wagrain or Alpendorf (and I have searched hard)
There are some very good hotels in both Wagrain and Alpendorf - we stayed at the Berghof in Alpendorf, which was not cheap but a really good 4 star wellness hotel. I wouldn't recommend the hotel we used in Wagrain but was given some nemes in the sommer which I could probbaly dig out if that would help.
Both Wagrain and Alpendorf are easy enough to reach from Salzburg. You can ither get a taxi or a train to St Johann which is only a couple of miles from Alpendorf but a bit further (5-6 miles?) from Wagrain.
Alpendorf is just hotels and accommodation but with good access to the skiing. Wagrain is a proper little village but has split ski areas so a bit of bussing will be needed. You can ski between Wagrain and Alpendorf. You don't say where your children are skiing - that might be crucial in terms of where you decide to go.

One more thing - the ski pass can easily be bought in resort. This is part of the Ski Amade area soone pass will do for both resorts and for everywhere else in the Amade area (Schladming/Flachau/Zauchensee/Filzmoss etc). It's not cheap though and I'm not sure if you can get resort-only passes.

Many thanks for your reply.
We really just need to be around this area. The children are staying in a nearby village, but due to a few problems, we need to be in a fairly accessible position for them.
If we were to book independently, do you know how much a taxi transfer would likely to cost, and also, how easy is it to rent skis/boots.
Thank you

Hi
I'm not sure about the cost of a taxi to Wagrain or Alpendorf but if you contact the local Tourist office, they will provide an estimate. Also, some of the hotels provide transfers for guests. Which village are your children skiing from? Wagrain is about 20 minutes drive by car from Alpendorf so it could be crucial where you stay depending on where the children are.
Any ski shop will supply rental skis and boots and there are a number of shops in Wagrain and at least one in Alpendorf.
Please let me know if you need any further info. We were looking at properties to buy there this summer so I have done lots of research!

Thank you for your info.
Wagrain possibly sounds like it may have more choice. So long as we are in the Salzburger Sportwelt area, that is fine for the children. Hopefully we won't need to see them, but as long as we are a taxi ride away if needed then that's okay.
Would really be looking for a S/C apartment or a hotel but within easy reach of the ski lifts.
Your help is really appreciated, many thanks.

For transfer you can use: http://www.huberreisen.at/e-online-flughafentransfer.html
It is fairly cheap at 41E return and they will wait for you at the airport and pick you up from the hotel after the holiday. Very efficient and we used them 3 times. They may ask for bank transfer at the beginning but if you email them thay will take credit card or even let you pay cash to the driver which is much more convenient than bank transfer to Europe.
Full list of options here: http://engl.salzburg-airport.com/anreise_840.html
Regarding the ski pass it will take you only a few minutes to buy this next to the gondola. Easy. I have to say it was much quicker than usual waiting for rep etc.

Wagrain as base will be more central and easier to get to Zauchensee (best place in the area by far).
Gondolas to Flachau mountain or on the other side of the village to Wagrain/Alpendorf mountains.
