A trail map of spot over Honeycomb Canyon in Solitude: if interested, magnify it, look to the top, slightly right area under the steep cliff faces below the ridge lines, and you can see the outline of a traverse, the picture taken is on tha traverse about to enter Honeycomb Canyon: Look at trail called Voltaire, standing right above it..

Here is a trail map of Alta: Look at middle page, trail #66,saddle traverse that is where I am between trails 74-80,skiied over the "ice-cream run" down from the saddle traverse around run #76 through #78, lapped it a few times, just beautiful conditions...natural wind-grooming, NO MAN-MACHINE grooming possible there, just "real ice"-cream...

On a blue bird day, when the cord is frozen, that's a gem. Hope you had a good lunch there.
because I'm so inclined .....

Thanks Dustyfog,
Lovely photos :D

I was quite interested to see what Utah looks like, because 2 brothers from my husband's family emigrated there from here, around 1850, following the 1000 mile Mormon trail with wagons, and the future wife of one of them made the journey as a child, with a handcart (and her mother died en route). The Mormons were emigrating out of the U.S. to Utah, because it was then part of Mexico. It must have been pretty cold during the winter.

Trench : Food at Deer Valley is really good and Goldener Hirsch is a real nice, low-key Inn to rest at, actually quite euro as in the original in Austria. Personally, had lunch once on the mountain, at Silver Lake, "steak" ! Note Alta food at Watson's is also of pretty high caliber.

Ally: Interesting. Well, since I know quite a few mormons, most "not practicing", some yes, and some I knew quite well a long time ago. note this is the mountain, Salt Lake City is an industrial, and in my view pretty heavily polluted town, but that is also a function of the weather in the valley and the Salt Lake and a weather phenomena known as "inversion". Generally, Utah is desert, the mountains are built on "sand" as they say, rugged and beautiful, that is the state.

Since I do not imbibe ANY alcohol when I ski, it makes no difference to me, but generally on mountain, alcoholi drinks are available and they have relaxed the laws a bit, but on the whole, heavy drinking not very visible as the Brits like to enjoy. Note I am making neutral observation, when on the plains, I am a regular guy and enjoy a nip here and there of scotch only mind you, with club soda and ice...
